Frozen 3 Or 4 Will Confirm What Happened To Hans

As Teased By The Director

One of the most exciting parts of the upcoming sequels is thatFrozen 3orFrozen 4will confirm what happened to Hans.Frozendirector Jennifer Lee spoke about the upcoming projectsafter their big blowout reveals at D23. Lee referenced that theFrozenshowcase at D23 didn’t provide a lot of answers, but it did raise a lot of questions, with these questions being the subjects of storylines inFrozen 3andFrozen 4.One of these questions has to do with the fate of Hans, meaning that it is expected to come back in the sequels. Here are her full comments:

What we put out today at [D23] is a lot of questions. One of those questions is… “Who gave Elsa her powers?” And another question is, “What happened to Hans?” But we put up a lot of questions that will be answered. And that’s only the first page of questions [that the films will reckon with].

This seemingly confirms that Hans' story will play into one of the twoFrozensequels in some way, which is exciting news for fans of the original movie. Lee did reveal thatFrozen 3andFrozen 4are being developed at the same time, meaning that it hasn’t been confirmed which of these questions will be answered in which sequel. However, it is exciting to know thatHans' story could come back as early asFrozen 3and no later thanFrozen 4, finally bringing back the antagonist over a decade after he was last seen in 2013’sFrozen.

Frozen 3 Is Disney’s Second Chance To Top A Key Part Of The First Movie

Frozen 3 is bound to be a success for Disney when it hits theaters, but it’s also the studio’s second chance to top a key part of the original movie.

Frozen 3 Needs To Bring Hans Back To Explain His Fate After Frozen

His Fate From The First Movie Is Ambiguous

Despite Hans being one of the most iconic Disney villains of the modern Disney era, his fate afterFrozenstill hasn’t been explained. Hans' villainy leads to him getting arrested and exiled for treason at the end of the 2013 film, and while he is seen being led away by guards, it isn’t known what happened next. SinceFrozenis a film for children, it is doubtful that the movie would have taken a route as dark as having him executed. Thus, Hans is probably still around, meaning that he could return inFrozen 3orFrozen 4.

After the tease of Hans' fate being explained,it would be incredibly disappointing for him not to have a significant role in the sequels. It is possible that the fate of Hans could be simply explained in a throwaway line from another character, but having him return in the flesh would be the best way to expand on the villain after his original movie role.

Frozen 3’s Release Date Is Tough To Accept, But Not For The Reason You Might Think

There’s no denying that Frozen 3’s new release date is incredibly hard to accept and, for one key reason, viewers will have a hard time letting it go.

Why Hans' Return In Frozen 3 Is So Important

It Would Be Disappointing After He Didn’t Return In Frozen II

One of the biggest reasons thatHans' return inFrozen 3is so important is that it has been heavily theorized by fans for years. Many fans of the originalFrozenhoped to see Hans return inFrozen II, and the fact that he didn’t was a bit disappointing for some. Having Hans not return forFrozen 3would mean that franchise fans have to go through this disappointment a second time, and that’s assuming that he actually returns inFrozen 4.

On top of that, bringing Hans back would be a big draw forFrozen 3. The fate of Hans is one of the biggest questions from the originalFrozen, and after the slightly disappointing story ofFrozen II, a major connetion to the original through Hans would be a great choice. There is still tons of story that could be told with Hans back in the role of antagonist, with his return having the potential to makeFrozen 3incredibly exciting.
