WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for Wolfs (2024)!While she never appears on screen, Frances McDormand has an unexpected voice cameo inWolfsthat ties her to the fixers’ crime cover-up. Thecast ofWolfsis led Brad Pitt and George Clooney, who play nameless “fixers” separately called in to cover up the death of a young man in the hotel room of District Attorney Margaret (Amy Ryan). Clooney is called by the DA, giving him the description “Margaret’s Man,” whilePitt is hired by the hotel’s owner Pam, giving him the name “Pam’s Man” in the movie’s credits.

With Margaret wanting to hide this scandal from her political career and Pam wanting to keep the hotel free of scandal, Clooney and Pitt’s seasoned fixers are reluctantly assigned to clean up the mess together. However, while Margaret plays an important role in the first act ofWolfsbefore the fixers leave the hotel, Pam never actually appears on-screen. Rather, Pam watches the action from security cameras hidden in the hotel room, withFrances McDormand providing the voice of the curious hotel proprietor.

Frances McDormand Voices Hotel Owner Pamela Dowd-Henry In Wolfs

McDormand Cameos As The Hotel Owner Who Hired Brat Pitt’s Fixer

Despite being another big name in the2024 action movie’s cast, Frances McDormand only makes a brief cameo inWolfsas the voice of Pamela Dowd-Henry. After Brad Pitt’s fixer is sent to the hotel room and the confusion about his presence has to be cleared up, thecharacters get a call from McDormand’s Pam, who hired Pitt to take care of the situation and protect the hotel’s interests. Though her face isn’t shown,Wolfsdoes cut to the security room where Pam’s back can be seen as she smokes a cigarette, pets her dog, and looks through camera footage.

Frances McDormand’s only roles since 2022’sWomen Talkinghave been voice cameos; she voiced God inGood Omensseason 2 and Pam inWolfs.

When Pam calls them on the phone, she’s heard praising Pitt as a fixer known for being the best at what he does, similar to the speech Margaret gave about Clooney. Pam also explains that she wants this situation to be taken care of discreetly so as to not have her building’s reputation forever associated with a dead man being found in the DA’s room. Soon after,Frances McDormand returns as the voice of Pam to explain to Clooney and Pitt’s movie characters how to proceed with the drugs they foundin the Kid’s backpack.

Wolfs Review: Apple Has Done This George Clooney & Brad Pitt Comedy A Huge Disservice [Venice]

It seems Clooney, Pitt, and director Jon Watts figured out what they needed to make Wolfs was their version of a Shane Black movie, Christmas and all.

SinceWolfsultimately reveals that the Kid was actually alive, the drugs were given to him by a friend, andhe was simply a patsy in an elaborate ruse to kill Pitt and Clooney’s fixers in a drug war setup, it’s unclear how involved Pam was in the plans formulated by their “man.” It’s implied that Margaret became involved to take out members of the Croatian and Albanian crime syndicates, thus fulfilling her political promises to be tough on crime. Given Clooney’s earlier suspicions aboutFrances McDormand’s moviecharacter, it seems her involvement in the scheme was based on having leverage over the fixers’ “man” and Margaret.

Hiding Pam’s Face Was A Big Clue To Wolfs' Big Twist

Clooney Was Right To Be Suspicious About The Clean-Up Job

The notion thatWolfsmade a point ofhiding Pam’s face from audiences was a great clue that she was involved in darker hidden plansforBrad Pitt and George Clooney’s moviecharacters. As fixers and career criminals, Pitt and Clooney are the ones who should be hiding in the shadows and making themselves faceless, isolated, short-spoken individuals. They’re at the hotel covering up someone else’s crimes, so Pam and Margaret should be the ones much more vulnerable about their positions. However, it’s Pam who clearly has control of the situation, hiding her face while hiding her true intentions.

There was, in fact, a bigger setup to attempt to get Pitt and Clooney’s fixers killed, and it ultimately worked in both Pam and Margaret’s favor.

Pam’s identity and face being hidden inWolfshinted at some type of secrecy and deception, which Clooney actually caught onto when the fixers were arguing over wiping the hotel’s security tapes. Clooney’s fixer posed a theory that the Kid’s “death” and the drugs in his backpack are part of a setup, suggesting Pam brought the Kid to the hotel on purpose, made a deal with Margaret to clean up the Kid’s “overdose” and make it look like nothing happened, but thatPam would keep the tapes for leverage over Margaret.

George Clooney & Brad Pitt’s New Movie Snaps 16-Year Drought After $163 Million Hit

George Clooney and Brad Pitt are set to star in their first live-action onscreen reunion since 2008 with the upcoming Jon Watts action comedy Wolfs.

There was, in fact, a bigger setup to try to get Pitt and Clooney’s fixers killed, and it ultimately worked in both Pam and Margaret’s favor. Margaret took out several members from two major crime syndicates, which makes her campaign look better, and Pam has that leverage over Margaret to keep the DA from investigating the hotel for any other criminal activities, such as her illegal surveillance. WithWolfs’ ending leaving it ambiguous as to whether Clooney and Pitt’s characters die in the shootout, they could end up exposing both Pam and Margaret in a potential sequel.

Frances McDormand’s Wolfs Cameo Creates A Bigger Burn After Reading Reunion

McDormand, Pitt & Clooney All Starred In 2008’s Burn After Reading

Pam doesn’t appear on-screen with Pitt and Clooney’s characters, but Frances McDormand’s voice casting still contributes to a bigger reunion for the actors’ 2008Coen Brothers movieBurn After Reading. In the hit crime comedy,McDormand and Pitt play gym employees who believe they’ve uncovered secret government documents, which leads them to Clooney’s U.S. Marshal character, who had previously been having an affair with McDormand’s persona.Burn After Reading’s entire setup is actually a chaotic misunderstanding, with ironic fatal consequences that are hilariously executed byWolfs’ Clooney, Pitt, and McDormand.
