The Witcherseason 4 is expected to adapt some of the darkest but also exciting stories from the novels, and thanks to this, it can finally give Cahir (Eamon Farren) the story he deserves.Season 4 of Netflix’sThe Witcheris facing different challenges, mainly its Geralt of Rivia recast, but also in terms of narrative.The Thanedd Coupand its aftermath, especially Ciri’s (Freya Allan) whereabouts and recruitment by the Rats, set up some of the darkest and most complex storylines for season 4.
Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Geralt (now played by Liam Hemsworth) will also face some interesting and obscure storylines in season 4, and some supporting characters might get bigger roles – it all depends on how loyal season 4 is to its source material,Baptism of Fire.Geralt’s story is expected to include Cahir in a bigger capacity, thus finally giving him the storyline he deserves, which fits with the changes he went through in season 3.

Cahir Is About To Officially Change Sides
Cahir is an intelligence officer of the Nilfgaardian Empire, who led the invasion of Cintra and the hunt for Ciri inThe Witcherseason 1. As such,Cahir serves as an antagonist throughout season 1, where he goes after Ciri after the Cintran Princess escapes from her city. Cahir’s role as a villain begins to change in season 2, and in season 3, his upcoming change is set up.The Witcherseason 4 is expected to cover the events of the novelBaptism of Fire, which explores the aftermath of the Thanedd incident while the war between Nilfgaard and the Northern Kingdoms continues.
Milva ends up intervening in his favor after Cahir saves her life, and Geralt agrees to let him join their group.
Following his recovery in Brokilon, Geralt sets out to find Ciri with the help and company of Milva and Jaskier. They come across Cahir, who is being transported as a prisoner by hawkers, and Geralt decides to spare his life again. Despite this, Geralt wants nothing to do with Cahir, butthe Black Rider shadows Geralt and company. Milva ends up intervening in his favor after Cahir saves her life, and Geralt agrees to let him join their group.
Cahir then reveals to Geralt that they have both been having the same dreams about Ciri, which proves she’s not in Nilfgaard and the woman that the White Flame has presented asCiri is an imposter.This earns Cahir Geralt’s trust, and he continues to travel with them so they can find and rescue Ciri.
The Witcher Season 3 Already Set Up Cahir’s New Alliances
As mentioned above, Cahir’s change began inThe Witcherseason 2 after the Battle of Sodden Hill, when he was taken prisoner in Aretuza by the Brotherhood. Cahir was tortured by Tissaia but was later freed by Yennefer, with whom he escaped. Cahir returned to Nilfgaard and tried to regain the White Flame’s trust, who only used him to get rid of some of his enemies and create a new alliance with Francesca and the elves. However,during the Thanedd Coup, Cahir showed that his actions didn’t align with his mentality anymore.

Yenner has rebelled against The Brotherhood a few times throughout The Witcher series on Netflix, but what was her reason for saving Cahir?
Francesca ordered Cahir to find Ciri, who they believed had already escaped while they fought the mages in Aretuza, and Cahir found the Princess and Geralt. Ciri was ready to fight Cahir but he threw his sword to the side and said he didn’t intend to fight. Cahir came clean to Ciri and Geralt about his actions and said he had realized that he had been wrong all this time, and he couldn’t give Ciri what he had already taken from her.To show he was being sincere, he urged Ciri to kill him.
However, a group of Scoia’tael arrived and, knowing they were going to capture Ciri to take her to the White Flame, Cahir told the princess to run while he confronted the elves.That was the last time Cahir was seen inThe Witcherseason 3, and it’s likely that he’s now a prisoner and was taken back to Nilfgaard. This sets up his next meeting with Geralt and the witcher freeing him, and later allowing him to join him in his search for Ciri.
Cahir Deserves His Full Redemption In Netflix’s The Witcher
Cahir Gets His Redemption In The Novels
Cahir’s actions in Netflix’sThe Witchermight still make viewers doubt if he’s sincere or not, but his story in the books shows that he is genuinely interested in finding Ciri and saving her fromthe White Flame’s horrible plans. In the series’ final novel,The Lady of the Lake, the assault on Stygga castle takes place. It begins when Geralt and his group learn of Vilgefortz’s real hideout and decide to attack in hopes of finding Ciri there. The group splits, and Cahir comes across Ciri, who is surrounded by Skellen’s men.
Cahir sacrifices himself to save Ciri, giving him the redemption he earned after all the damage he did as part of the Nilfgaardian army.
Cahir and Angoulême fight Skellen’s men, but Leo Bonhart arrives.Cahir decides to pose as Geralt to give Ciri a chance to escape, and though Bonhart doesn’t believe he’s the witcher, he fights him anyway. Ciri and Agoulême get a chance to escape, andCahir is killed by Bonhart. Cahir sacrifices himself to save Ciri, giving him the redemption he earned after all the damage he did as part of the Nilfgaardian army.
Cahir in Netflix’sThe Witcheris on his way to getting his redemption like in the books, but with the show ending with season 5 and with three books still left to adapt, it might not happen exactly like in the novels. Still, and despite his initial actions being horrible, Cahir has already shown development and could be key in Geralt’s mission to find Ciri, as he was in the novels.
