Each one can be found as you unlock new areas and progress through the main story, but somecannot be interacted with at first. You may have to meet certain requirements before you can talk to specific people, such as having a stat at a certain level or having gone through a unique event in the game.

You must feed the Dog Wild Strawberries to become its friend.

Help Gertrude find her missing brooch, which can also be found in the Hinterberg Main Square area.

Once you’ve met the requirements to talk to everyone, you canincrease your friendship tier with each of themto gain rewards. You can raise your bond with others when youspend time with peopleorcomplete events tied to that characteras you interact more with them. Thecharming nature ofDungeons of Hinterbergcomes out in full force during interactions with these characters as you deepen relationships with your favorite people.
Gifts do not help raise friendship levels, even if handing over a unique item will help you earn an achievement tied to an individual’s events or story. Since most characters cannot be interacted with until you make the story progress or reach a certain stat level, youwon’t be able to raise every character’s friendship at the same time. Reaching new tiers in a friendship will take time, whether you like it or not.
Some characters' friendship levels increase as you go through the main story or finish events tied to them. For example, your bond with Alex will only grow as you progress through the game’s narrative, not through basic interactions.
One of the restrictions to raising friendship levels is thatcharacters sometimes do not appearin the locations they hang out around. During the day, some characters will simply not be around, forcing you to wait until the next day or the night to arrive. Thankfully,characters never go away forever, so they’ll show back up in their usual spots after a bit of time if you keep checking their preferred hang-out spots.
