In an exclusive interview withScreen Rant,Jihae talks about Kasha and Ynez’s relationship inDune: Prophecy, and explains how there is a deeper backstory between the characters beyond what is shown in the episode. Jihae’s comments explain why Kasha was so worried about Ynez after having her nightmare. Read her full comments below:

There was a backstory that the showrunner came up with of how Kasha discovered Inez as a little girl in captivity who had been held, and they discussed that, but I think there’s also a mother-to-daughter type of bond between them that is deeper than what Inez has with her own mother.
I think when Kasha first has that nightmare, her initial instinct was to make sure that Inez was okay. Leaving her post, which she’s not supposed to do, and going in a rush overnight to speak to the Mother Superior was out of her maternal instinct to make sure that Ynez was going to be okay. She didn’t actually interpret it as her being the prophecy itself.

Our Take On Kasha & Ynez’s Relationship In Dune: Prophecy
The Death Will Have A Major Impact On The Series
Kasha and Ynez’s bond inDune: Prophecyshowcases the juxtaposition between Kasha and Valya. While Kasha truly cares for Ynez and wants what is best for her, Valya only wants what she believes to be best for the Bene Gesserit. Therefore,Valya is only using Princess Ynez to make the Bene Gesserit even more powerful. Based on the dynamic between Kasha, Ynez, and Valya in episode 1, it seems likeDune: Prophecywill be full of characterswith very complex and intriguing motivations.
