Summary

Few events in DC’s history were as shocking as the death ofSuperman. Seeing the Man of Steel go down swinging againstDoomsdayshook the world, and over the years writers have revisited this story. Now, in 2024, I’m convinced that one major member of the Super-Family will be getting some much-needed revenge on Doomsday:Lois Lane.

Superman and his family may have thought they were finally free ofDoomsday when he was trapped in hell, but it seems that nothing good can last forever. The solicitation forSuperman#20 by Joshua Williamson and Dan Mora reveals thatDoomsday has returned from hell, which makes me think that Lois Lane will finally get her chance for revenge.

Lois will be gaining new powers as Superwoman, and this presents a very interesting opportunity for her. While Superman is likely going to want to do everything he can to keep her away, this looks like it might finally beLois' chance to kill Doomsday for murdering her husband.

Lois Lane Deserves Revenge for the Death of Her Love, Superman

It’s Lois' Turn to Beat Doomsday

Doomsday killing Supermanleft a great deal of trauma in the Super-Family, not just for Superman. Jon Kent grew up being terrified of Doomsday. He saw his father as invulnerable, and for good reason, and yet Doomsday was the one monster that had killed his dad. Even more terrifying is that Doomsday hates all Kryptonians, meaning he might eventually come after Jon as well. It’s a terrifying situation for a child: to be scared of a monster that they know their father can’t beat. Eventually, Jon manages to face Doomsday and beat this fear, andI think it’s finally time for Lois to do the same.

Lois Lane will gain new powers as Superwoman at the beginning of the DC All In initiative. Her journey as the Superwoman to Clark Kent’s Superman begins inSuperman#19 by Williamson and Mora, but she’s also taking names as a hero during theAbsolute Powerevent inSuperman#16 andSuperman#17 by Williamson and Jamal Campbell.
