Summary
Deadliest Catch: Bloodlinewas supposed to be the next entry in the wildly popularDeadliest Catchreality TV franchise, but now it’s nowhere to be found, and there’s a pretty upsetting reason why.Deadliest Catchhas had three spinoff series since it premiered in 2005:Dungeon Cove,The Viking Returns, andBloodline.Bloodlinepremiered in April 2020 and lasted for three seasons. The show follows Josh Harris and Casey McManus, captains of one of themost popular boats onDeadliest Catch, theF/V Cornelia Marie.
Phil Harris' death onDeadliest Catchwas one of the most memorable and tragic momentsin the series, and when he died, the boat passed to his son, Josh.Bloodlinedepicts this relationship with Josh and Casey finding old fishing notes Phil left behind that lead the pair to go hunting for tuna in Hawaii and learn more about the time Phil spent fishing there. The series had a much different feel from the main show and was more of an adventure series that felt slightly scripted. But it was still popular, and a surprise when it was suddenly canceled.

Deadliest Catch: Bloodline Was Canceled After Josh Harris' Legal Troubles Came To Light
Harris Served Nine Months In Prison In 1999
In September 2022, Discovery toldRadarthat Josh Harris would no longer be a part ofDeadliest Catchbecause of past allegations and criminal charges that had recently come to light regarding the fishing captain. TheF/V Cornelia Mariesuddenly disappeared fromDeadliest Catch, Harris' contract was not renewed, andBloodlinewas canceled, all for the same reason:Discovery uncovered that Harris had gone to prison for nine months in 1999after being convicted of sexually assaulting a minor in 1998.
Though no one from Discovery ever officially announcedBloodline’s cancelation, the show was never renewed for season 4.

According to the court documents, Harris was accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl when he was 15 or 16. The case did not move forward until 1999 because of delays in DNA processing. Harris pleaded to a lesser charge which led to him receiving a guilty verdict of assault 4 and immoral communication with a minor for which he served nine months in prison. Harris also had to undergo a psychosexual exam as part of his sentence. Though no one from Discovery officially announcedBloodline’s cancelation, the show was never renewed for season 4.
In the Washington state court system, Assault 4, or Assault in the Fourth Degree, is the lowest level of assault one can be convicted of and is considered a gross misdemeanor (viaMcAleerLaw).
