Daredevil: Born Againhas created plenty of parallels between itself and the original Netflix show, but episode 8’s ending may have been the clearest callback. At the end ofDaredevilseason 3, Daredevil and Bullseye both crash Wilson Fisk’s wedding reception. Fisk is wearing a white suit, and Bullseye turns up in a Daredevil costume ready to wreak havoc. He starts by flinging a billy club at Vanessa, which is immediately deflected by Daredevil, and the pair begin to brawl, causing complete chaos and destruction while Fisk and Vanessa flee to safety.
InDaredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock storms the black tie event, where Fisk is wearing a white suit, to confront the Mayor. Bullseye shows up shortly after, and takes aim at the Mayor. With the party in disarray, Murdock is forced to use his incredible speed and perception and jumps in front of a bullet to protect Fisk. And in the aftermath,Fisk and Vanessa flee to safety. The connections are clear, and the way that the show created this parallel suggests there could be further connections.

The reboot needed to ensure that it did not overwrite, erase, or put down the previous project starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. The pair were an inspired choice in casting, and the fact that theMCU recognized and trusted these actors to move the story forwardwas a big deal. So, expanding on their work, and acknowledging what came before makes sense on several levels. It’s a full-circle moment as the show sees these characters come so far, only to be in the same position that they were years earlier. It builds tension for the finale, and it is the perfect way to showcase Matt’s character as a hero.

Daredevil: Born Again is setting up to make a huge impact with the final episode of season one, but needs certain things to happen to succeed.
Earlier in the episode,Bullseye is the one who tells Matt Murdockthat real heroes protect their greatest enemies, and in the final moments of this episode, Matt does just that. It also proves that the new team heading the show are in a great position, in terms of understanding the characters, and the people playing them. They appreciate and respect the material that took them this far, and they are building on it. The result is an incredibly driven and intense reboot inDaredevil: Born Againthat is ready to take this character and story forward.
