Cyclops' love interests may seem radically different from one another, but they all share one common thread: they’re dangerous, as he readily admitted inX-Men#2.
Since joining the X-Men andsecuring a relationship with Jean Grey, Scott Summers has rarely spent a moment being single. While hismost well-known relationshipshave been with Jean, her clone Madelyne Pryor, and Emma Frost, he’s been linked with women like Captain Marvel and Frenzy in other timelines. At a glance, Cyclops' love interests may seem radically different from one another, but they all share one common thread: they’re dangerous, as he readily admitted inX-Men#2.Cyclops seems to gravitate toward partners who command respect and awe (from him and others), along with whatever physical attraction he feels.

Scott spends most of his life planning tactics and strategies to keep others safe. He was trained to be a leader, to keep his friends and teammates alive, and he’s serious to a fault as a result. That sense of responsibility paired with the fear of losing control of his own mutant ability leaves him in a near-constant state of anxiety. It seems natural that he’s drawn to partners who can take care of themselves and be relied upon in the worst-case scenarios. Their strength means that he’s able to relax with them in a way he can’t find elsewhere.
Cyclopsknows that dangerous women make the best allies and partners, and they’ll always have a spot with theX-Men.
