Julian Sands' 10 Best Movies Ranked
The late Julian Sands was a consummate film actor who could fit well in schlocky horror movies as well as he could in Oscar-winning romantic dramas.
While Alessio does not get any more significant screen time than any of the other supporting members of the special forces squad,he absolutely looks the part of a steely-eyed, charming soldier who can kill as quickly as he can crack a joke.Spectralwas released on Netflix and didn’t make waves when it premiered, but it’s a strong and capable science fiction movie with believable performances and a credible villain.

9Lincoln Heights (2006-2009)
Luc Bisgaier (9 Episodes, 2007-2008)

The Outpost
Cast
The Outpost is a dramatic war film by director Rod Lurie, based on the accounts of a battle in Afghanistan written by Jake Tapper. The film centers on a small group of soldiers in the heart of Kamdesh, Afghanistan, who are forced to hold the line against near-impossible odds as they face off against several Taliban soldiers.
The Outpostis a criminally underseen war moviethat tells the real story of the Battle of Kamdesh during the War in Afghanistan. Starring Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom as real life soldiers who fought in the battle,The Outpostis a tense, thrilling, and impressively filmed and staged war movie. The movie has been celebrated for its realistic depiction of warfare and the powerful and grounded performance by the ensemble.

Cory Hardrict plays Staff Sergeant Vernon Martin, a real person who Hardrict makes sure to do justice to and not turn into a caricature, even during his character’s tragic death sequence. The role also allows Hardrict to showcase some of his physical acting abilities and the part feels like the culmination of several roles in war movies over the previous few years.
American Sniper
American Sniper is based on the true story of U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and his tour of duty in Iraq. The film explores his legendary career on the field as he battles hidden in enemy lines to protect his brothers in arms despite the growing bounty on his head and the havoc it wreaked on his personal life.
Cory Hardrict first appeared in a Clint Eastwood film in 2008, as a young gangster who harasses Sue Lor (Ahney Her) inGran Torino.Eastwood must have remembered the performance because he cast Hardrict again inAmerican Sniper, this time in a bigger role as Dandridge, also called “D”, one of Chris Kyle’s (Bradley Cooper) buddies in the US military. Despite somebig changesAmerican Snipermakes to the real story, it’s still a moving and complex tale about the toll military service can take.

For his part, Hardrict met with the real Dandridge over the phone and admitted it was a bit intimidating talking to the combat veteran (viaTooFab). It’s good he did talk to him though, because his p[portrayal of ‘D’ feels authentic and is critical to making sure the rest ofAmerican Sniperstays grounded. It’s not a superhero movie, and Hardrict plays his soldier like an every-day guy thrust into an abnormal situation.
S.W.A.T.
S.W.A.T. (2017): This crime-action series follows a locally born S.W.A.T. lieutenant in Los Angeles who must navigate his loyalties between the streets and his duty to commanding a highly-trained unit responsible for resolving challenging crimes. The series explores themes of allegiance, justice, and responsibility within law enforcement.
Cory Hardrict only appears for four episodes inS.W.A.T.but it’s for a key purpose. Officer Jim Street (Alex Russell) is one of themost likable characters inS.W.A.T.in part because his impulsiveness and trouble adjusting to his new team makes him a little more human and relatable. Hardrict first appears as Nate Warrren in season 3, episode 5, “The LBC”, Street’s foster brother who he has not seen in years.

He gives the character emotions and life in only a few episodes, making his exit all the more bitter.
Their reunion is both love-filled but has some underlying anger as they each resent the other for being abandoned all those years ago. However, they soon make up, and not a moment too soon, because a few episodes later, Warren is gunned down by Teague Nolan (Todd Stashwick). It’s Hardrict’s acting performance that makes this such an upsetting moment. He gives the character emotions and life in only a few episodes, making his exit all the more bitter.

5The Oath (2018-2019)
Cole Hammond (18 Episodes, 2018-2019)
InThe Oath, a two-season crime drama on Crackle, a group of corrupt cops known as The Ravens are arrested for their underhanded dealings. To avoid prison time, the leader of The Ravens, Steve Hammond (Ryan Kwanten) and his brother Cole (Cory Hardrict) are forced to continue to pretend to be corrupt and also bring an FBI agent into their ranks. Not only do they have to contend with the increased scrutiny of rival gangs, they also have to contend with the guilty feelings they’ve come to acknowledge.
Cole is a morally gray character and Hardrict plays him with exceptional complexity, which makes it difficult to figure out what he’s thinking from moment to moment. It’s a tense TV show and Cole is on edge the entire time, not an easy emotional state to remain in for an entire series, but Hardrict pulls it off while still exploring other aspects of the character.

4Destined (2016)
Sheed/Rasheed
Cory Hardrict pulls double duty in the fantasy drama film,Destined. Set in Detroit, MI,Destinedfollows a teenager (Cory Hardrict) who works for a drug dealer before he experiences an incident that spins him off into two parallel universes. In one, he’s Sheed, a career criminal who has worked his way to ruling over his own empire. In the other reality, he’s Rasheed, a buttoned-up and very successful architect.
Hardrict plays both characters with just the slightest differences, which makes it feel like they could have both grown up from the same teenager but are now so far removed, their personalities can never be pushed back together. While the film slips into some familiar and, admittedly, boring tropes, Hardrict never stumbles in his performance, creating two believable characters that both feel honest to the teenager.

Brotherly Love
Brotherly Love (2015) is a drama that chronicles the lives of three siblings in Philadelphia. As they navigate the highs and lows of adolescence, familial responsibilities, and personal aspirations, the film explores themes of loyalty, ambition, and the stark realities of life in an urban environment.
Brotherly Lovewas Cory Hardrict’s first starring role in a movie, and he gives the performance his all. While some believeBrotherly Lovewas based on a true story, that is not the case, but the grounded performances and realistic tale are so relatable, it’s a story that’s likely happened many times, all across the globe. In the film, a high school basketball star, Sergio Taylor (Eric D. Hell Jr.), struggles to navigate his fame as an athlete.

His older brother, June (Hardrict), was himself once an all-star player, but a series of wrong, though sometimes necessary, choices ended up seeing those dreams dashed. It’s a heart-wrenching and powerful film that showcases some of Hardrict’s most emotional acting. June is frustrated, jealous, frightened, but most of all, loving, and those feelings spill out naturally across his face whenever he talks to his siblings.
The Chi
The Chi is a drama series created by Lena Waithe, set on the South Side of Chicago. It follows a group of residents whose lives become interconnected through everyday challenges. Central characters include Brandon, an aspiring chef; Kevin, a teenager grappling with coming-of-age issues; and Emmett, a young father trying to provide for his son. The series explores themes of friendship, community, and perseverance in a vibrant urban setting.
The Chihas been on the air since 2018, and over its 6 seasons and counting, numerous characters have come and gone from the South Side of Chicago, IL, where the series is set. Cory Hardrict plays Dante, who first appears in season 3, episode 4, “Gangway”, and reappears once in a while over the next three seasons. Dante is a rapper who enjoys the finer things in life and is known to be very picky when it comes to what marijuana he smokes and which women he associates with.
It’s a very fun role for Hardrict and one of the few chances he’s had in his career to really cut loose, and he takes full advantage. While his previous characters were notable for being internal, struggling to contain their overwhelming emotions, Dante wears his heart on his sleeve, and Hardrict’s joy and ease in the role is palpable.
