Chicago Fireseason 13’s big cliffhanger about Christopher Herrmann’s future is already resolved thanks to a brand new set image. Much has changed in Firehouse 51 in the last year.Chief Wallace Boden was replaced by Dom Pascal, and Jack Damon was booted out. That said, One Chicago unexpectedly revisited one of the set-ups from theChicago Fireseason 12 finale withHerrmann’s plans of moving up the ranks to become the firehouse’s new battalion chief. His revamped journey started when he took the captain’s test inChicago Fireseason 13, episode 8, “Quicksand.”
In a new image fromChicago Fire’s fan-favorite gaffer,Anthony Lulloon Instagram, David Eigenberg is seen wearing a captain’s uniform. This means thatHerrmann ultimately passes the examand successfully moves up the Chicago Fire Department’s ladder. Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t reveal what episode ofChicago Fireseason 13 the cast and crew were filming when the snap was taken. Check out the photo below:

What Hermann Becoming A Captain Means For Firehouse 51
Boden’s Plan May Still Be Coming True
Boden’s reign ended as Firehouse 51’s fearless and principled Battalion Chief when he was promoted to be the new First Deputy Fire Commissioner. His departure was unexpected, but at least it was for a good reason. Before he officially left, however, he made some arrangements to ensure that the transition for his team wouldn’t be that difficult. That was whenBoden set the path for Herrmann to replace him. Understandably, he wanted his successor to be someone from Firehouse 51. Unfortunately, NBC and Wolf Entertainment walked back on this in theChicago Fireseason 13premiere.
Chicago Fire Season 13 Secretly Reveals Matt Casey’s True Firehouse 51 Replacement
Three seasons after Jesse Spencer officially leaves, Chicago Fire season 13, episode 7 reveals Matt Casey’s true Firehouse 51 replacement.
Now that Herrmann is confirmed to move up the ranks, the path for him to make Boden’s plan a reality is more possible than ever. Now that he is a captain, it’s safe to say that he will eventually take the chief’s exam to take over Firehouse 51. For this to happen, however, Pascal would have to leave. It’s currently unknown what the terms are in Dermot Mulroney’s One Chicago contract, but when he joined the show, the idea was that he would be a member of theChicago Firecastfor a while, effectively creating a conundrum.

Our Take On Hermann’s New Role In Firehouse 51
What Happens To Pascal Then?
There’s no arguing that seeing Herrmann take over Firehouse 51 would be great. Aside from him making Boden’s plans come true, it would also pave the way for Mouch to be promoted as well, which has already been long overdue. I worry thatChicago Firehas been fixing Pascalafter making him quite irritable in the first few episodes. It would be disappointing to see him go after he has developed a rapport with Kelly Severide. For what it’s worth, Herrmann still has a way to go before becoming chief, so NBC still has time to figure this out.
