Summary

As soon as a player enters the game, or even looks at the trailer,Cat Quest 3gives the feeling of being much larger and more impressive than its predecessors thanks to its new dynamic of ocean travel with players commanding their own pirate ship. The open waters of the Purribean are full of dangerous naval battles and hidden pools of items, as well as a plethora of islands to explore. All these little islands are where much of the gameplay happens, however, which begs the question of how much larger the game actually is.

InCat Quest 3, the adventure continues witha new Cat Hero exploring a world full of mysteries and trouble while searching for the legendary North Starthat can fulfill anyone’s greatest desires. The islands and sea are filled with the evil pi-rats who are also hunting for this treasure, however, leading to ship battles as well as the traditionalCat Quest-style combat on land. Many games facecomparisons of how big their maps are when developing a sequel, but the addition of all this ocean exploration has madeCat Quest 3a bit trickier to compare.

Cat Quest 3 Review: More Of The Same, Improved

Cat Quest 3, Pirates of the Purribean, adds pirate ships and more humor to the epic adventure of the series while continuing its overarching story.

Ocean Travel Leads To Lots Of Little Islands

InCat Quest 2there were primarily two distinct land masses: the land of Felingard to the south and the Lupus Empire to the north. There were some dotted islands around, but the main game happened on these two continents. Conversely, inCat Quest 3, part of the benefit of players having access to a very user-friendly pirate ship from the first moments of the game is that, rather than having everything compact on large continents, the Purribean contains numerous islands that can be sailed to and explored.

Therefore, whileCat Quest 3may appear to be much larger, it actually doesn’t feel that way when playing. Sailing to the different land masses is quick because they are all relatively close together, and the islands themselves are pretty small. If anything, the overworld map forCat Quest 3may be a bit smallerwhen looking solely at land size, although it is a good bet that it is actually about the same.

10 Best Pirate-Themed Video Games Of All Time, Ranked

From fighting krakens to commanding a ship of buccaneers, there are plenty of video games about pirates that let players sail the seven seas.

Dungeons Offer Lots Of Off-Map Areas To Explore Too

In All Cat Quest Games

The land and sea that are visible on the overworld maps are not the only areas to explore inCat Quest 3, though. Like the previous game, there are a plethora of dungeons to delve intowhen completing quests and adventuring. These dungeons add a lot to the atmosphere and experience of gameplay, and are found in locations all over the game. While some are relatively short puzzle experiences, others can be multi-level quests that can take a while to fully explore.

Without a specific answer from the developers, it is hard to say for certain which game has a larger map. If looking just at the land mass, it could be said that this recent game is smaller. However, sailing the ocean adds a lot in both map size and entertainment value while getting to attack pi-rats on the open waters and seek out the Duck of Doom that threatens any who dare traverse the sea inCat Quest 3, which could just make it the larger of the two.
