The developer who announced a fan-madeBloodborneremake last year has revealed that the project is finished. But in an amusing twist, theyrevealed anotherBloodborneproject, this time turning the FromSoftware classic into aDiablo-esque ARPG.

The developer, Maxime Foulquier on X, revealed aBloodborneremake in Unreal Engine 5last February. The footage has since been pulled, but you can find a short clip in the thread.

This week, they revealed that the project hadn’t been worked on for over a year. Why? Well, Foulquier mentioned several reasons, saying it was “too big” and “too risky” to continue without Sony lawyers knocking down their door. So, they closed up shop on remake plans for another game that surely won’t draw the lidless Eye of Sony their way. Or not. But at least it looks pretty cool.

Bloodbornelooks great in ARPG form, but it looks good in about anything

As you can see from the short footage,Bloodbornekinda slays as an ARPG, fitting snugly in the mold of aDiablo-like. It makes sense, considering both franchises warmly embrace dark, edgy Gothic art styles. With plenty of spilled blood, mind.

In the clip, you can see enemies spawning in and rushing the lone hunter, who nimbly slashes and quicksteps through the attacks. Even in these early stages, it looks damn clean. The game seems to take to ARPG gameplay naturally. Granted, it’s not perfect. Watching that one foe helplessly swing away at the Hunter amid a Visceral Attack (where they can’t take damage) is a bit goofy. But it’s just a sample, in the end.

Bloodborne ARPG: Nightmare Kart - formerly Bloodborne Kart, one of many fan-made games

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that theBloodbornefandom is insatiable. Like a pack of blood-starved beasts, fans will do anything for one more sip of that crimson ambrosia. ThisBloodborneARPG is but one of many fan-made projects that crossed our way. The creators of aBloodbornedemakedemo had to stop their second project,Bloodborne KartwhenSony reached outand asked them to remove the branding. It later returned asNightmare Kart(sans branding), which you candownload for freeoff Steam.

Will all these fan projects finally convince Sony to bring the game to PC or, at least, remaster it for modern consoles? It’s possible. The number offan-madeBloodborneprojectsproves interest in the game remains high. But it also reveals that the impatience is growing.
