The main weakness of a deck like this is that while the Pokémon you have are quite tanky,they don’t hit for much in return. Finding ways to raise your attack damage is crucial, which is why Giovanni and Rocky Helmet are important to the deck. However, like any deck that wants to accelerate your Energy,you will also want to go second. This is an important part of getting Dialga ex to work, otherwise you will have to wait two whole turns to get the wheels turning.
You want to look for things with a3-Energy cost, as this allows you to retreat and send out the attacker to do a big hit all in one go.
Mew ex is a good choice,as it can steal your opponent’s attacks and hit for a bigger numberthan any of the other Pokémon in this list. It is the best way to ensure you can hit back with a strong punch. Melmetal, meanwhile, is a good way to tank a few hits if you need to wait a turn out. Additionally, in the right circumstances,Skarmony can hit for 50 with just 1 Energy attached as a Basic Pokémon. The right tool or Giovanni can increase this even more.
If you want to go for the Bastiodon route,you will mainly be trying to outlast your opponent, but you will need to have an Ace in the hole. Bastiodon can be very annoying, but his heaviest attack is just 80 damage, meaning that you will want to find something else to finish your opponent off.Giant Cape gives you extra HP for the same as a Potion, but gets spicy with cards like Skarmony.
