Marvel has just brought together an unexpectedly dynamic duo, asScarlet Witcharrives in Hell’s Kitchen to team up with the Man Without Fear himself,Daredevil–leading to an unforgettable team up that fans didn’t realize they wanted until now, and perhaps even setting the stage for a future Marvel Cinematic Universe encounter.

Marvel readers know thatDaredevillore has become increasingly metaphysical over the years, meaning it makes perfect sense for him to engage with the mystical heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe more, and having the character work side-by-side with Wanda Maximoff makes it clear they have chemistry as heroes fighting the forces of darkness together.

The first four issues ofScarlet Witchhave Wanda dealing with a crisis that ends with the Elder God Chthon escaping from his prison inside Wanda’s soul. As soon as Wanda sets foot on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen inScarlet Witch#5, she is met by an elderly woman in danger. Though the womanruns to Wanda for help, Wanda informs her that “this is his territory,” just as Daredevil’s trademark baton crushes a flying ghostly hammer in its path. Daredevil greets Wanda with enthusiasm,as it’s revealed that the two have never worked together before.

During their walk through the vacant subway system,Matt and Wanda share a delightful rapport. Wanda is more serious, but is amused by Matt’s skills, while Matt is full of witty and charming remarks.

When Wanda explains that the threat is from one of Chthon’s children,Matt uses his unique sensesto narrow down their path. The highlight of the issue is when Daredevil fights off possessed humans while performing a mass exorcism in Latin. While Matt is well-known for his Catholicism, performing an exorcism in the middle of the subway system beside the Scarlet Witch is definitely a first.

Scarlet Witch & Daredevil Is The Team Up Marvel, And The MCU, Never Knew It Needed

In Matt Murdock’s Words, “A Devil And A Witch Is A Bit On The Nose”

Though Wanda Maximoff ispresumed dead in the MCUafter the events ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, her return has long been rumored. Considering the massive success ofAgatha All Along, which showed that Wanda’s twins are alive, and the confirmation of mutants existing in the MCU, the possibilities for new and pivotal storylines with Wanda are endless;with Daredevil also in the MCU now, a team up between Wanda and Matt Murdock could, and should, most certainly happen.Their dynamic inScarlet Witch#5 is equal parts charming and easy, as the two work effortlessly together.

What comic storyline needs to be adapted by the MCU or DCU?

One comic narrative I’d love to see adapted is Identity Crisis. It’s one of my favorite contained arcs, with a compelling mix of whodunnit mystery drama and character dynamics. There are some highlights that would be fun to see on screen, like Deathstroke taking on the Justice League and the ultimate reveal of the killer.

Daredevil has already appeared in the MCU in both movies (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and on the small screen (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), with his Disney+ debut solo series,Daredevil: Born Again, set to premiere in March. Similarly, Wanda has been a fixture in the MCU films sinceAvengers: Age of Ultronin 2015 and ventured to the Disney+ side in the hit series,WandaVision. With both characters established in movies and streaming series, a team up between Daredevil and Scarlet Witch could happen in any corner of the MCU.
