Once Carol wakes up, the JSA heroes explain the situation to her. As this followsthe events ofAbsolute Power #1by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, the heroes of the DC Universe are without their powers and without hope. However, Carol notices that the members of the JSA are still determined to fight despite the dire circumstances they’ve found themselves in. This epiphany causes her to questionwhether she’s meant to be a herolike them — only as Star Sapphire.

Carol Ferris first appeared as Star Sapphire in 1962’sGreen Lantern#16 by John Broome, Gil Kane, Joe Giella, and Gaspar Saladino.

Jadestone

In recent issues ofGreen Lanternby Jeremy Adams and Xermánico,Carol Ferris became Star Sapphire againafter obtaining a violet power ring. With the ring, much like a Green Lantern ring, she is able to tap into immense power. Star Sapphire used to beone of Green Lantern’s greatest foes, butCarol has since become an ally to Hal Jordan. Now that she’s reclaimed her super-powered alter ego, Carol has to figure out what to do with the power she possesses. Her time with the JSA may be what inspires her to choose a heroic path.

The League Returns Fall 2024 inJustice League Unlimitedby Mark Waid and Dan Mora

At San Diego Comic-Con, DC Comics announcedJustice League Unlimited, a new title and era for the iconic super-team. On the cover of the first issue, Star Sapphire is featured in the Justice League’s roster for the first time. Since her creation in 1962, Star Sapphire has been an antagonist more often than not, so this evolution from supervillain to superhero is a major shift for her character. Carol’s journey to theJustice Leaguehas officially begun, and it’s only a matter of time before she’s as much of a hero asGreen Lanternand the Justice Society of America members she looks up to.
