Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Battle of Jakku - Insurgency Rising #4

After 41 years,Star Warsis showing just how powerfulLuke Skywalkerwas in the aftermath of the original trilogy. As seen in Marvel’s newBattle of Jakkuseries, Luke Skywalker and his fellow Rebels have been working to fight the fractured Empire as the Rebel Alliance becomes the New Republic. This includes major conflicts with a dark side cult as well as Moff Adelhard and his Iron Blockade, providing Luke with the perfect means to display his impressive Jedi skills when he was truly in his prime.

Luke Skywalker Defeats Adelhard’s Stormtroopers

As seen in the newStar Wars: Battle of Jakku - Insurgency Rising #4from Alex Segura and Leonard Kirk, Luke Skywalker infiltrates Adelhard’s Iron Blockade to save a group of captured Rebels who’d been sent to investigate the Moff’s hold over the Anoat sector (one of these Rebels being Poe Dameron’s father). Not only does Luke Skywalker fight a brand-new Inquisitor, but he also has a showdown with Adelhard himself, taking out his forces with very little effort (and one of the most impressiveStar Warsdisses of all time):

Thoroughly defeating Adelhard, it’s quite impressive to see Luke Skywalker absolutely in his prime, especially when considering that the sequel trilogy had Luke very diminished and largely removed from the galaxy following the loss of his Jedi academy and Ben Solo’s corruption to the dark side.

Despite having Luke Skywalker surrounded by multiple squads of stormtroopers, the Jedi Knight moves through the troopers as if they’re nothing. Likewise, he also cut the platform Adelhard was standing on out from under him, providing Luke with enough time to rejoin his fellow rebels and escape the Star Destroyer that was under fire by the New Republic. While the final page ofInsurgency Rising #4does confirm that Adelhard survived and intends to take the Force far more seriously, it certainly doesn’t lessen Luke Skywalker’s impressive victory.

The son of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, Luke was brought up on the desert planet Tatooine. Initially mentored by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke fired the fateful shot that destroyed the Death Star, and he became a rebel hero. Despite the fears of Obi-Wan and Yoda, Luke’s faith in his father was proved well-founded when Vader returned to the light. With the Emperor defeated, Luke dedicated himself to bringing back the Jedi; his first attempt ended in tragedy due to Palpatine’s manipulations, but Luke’s legacy lives on in Rey.
