The Boysstar Antony Starr shares a new peek at Homelander in season 5 as filming continues. Created by Eric Kripke, the hit Prime Video series premiered in 2019, depicting a world in which corrupt superheroes are the dominant sources of power. Starr’s Homelander has served as the show’s primary villain throughout its four-season run, returning for the well-reviewed season 4 last summer. The Boysseason 5is now confirmed to bring the show to an end, with filming getting underway in Toronto last November.
Starrnow takes to Instagram to share a new look at Homelander inThe Boysseason 5, with the caption “Greetings and peace from season 5.” The first image in Starr’s carousel shows him in his Homelander costume in some kind of warehouse setting or sound stage with scaffolding behind him, though, unfortunately, it’s not clear what kind of scene he’s filming.

In order from left to right, the rest of the images, all from season 4, show a costume fitting for the “civilian Homie” look, poster art for Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) as a Supe, and Starr and Crovetti posing together on set. Check out Starr’s post below:
Few things.
Greetings and peace from season 5.
Season four fitting for “civilian Homie. #buns we laughed a lot.

The poster art for young Ryan in season 4. @erickripke1 gave me an early glimpse of this stunning outfit (Homie’s fav design) and I think I laughed harder than I have laughed at anything in this show. Also wanted the boots.
me and the lad @cameroncrovetti last season. Patient young man 😂

What Starr’s Post Means For The Boys Season 5
Homelander Is Only Getting More Evil
Starr’s new look at Homelander doesn’t provide any hints about what is next for the character in season 5, butThe Boys' season 4 finaleprovides a fairly strong indication of what is to come. The final episode of season 4 ends with a significant defeat for Jack Quaid’s Hughie and his allies, with a number of them being detained as Homelander essentially takes on new presidential powers.Homelander declares that a “new age of superheroes” is beginning, and now he has an army of loyal Supes to do his bidding.
10 The Boys Supes Who Can Join Homelander’s Army In Season 5
Homelander’s supe supremacist army is established in The Boys season 4 finale, and these 10 supes could join his team in the upcoming final season.
Homelander, then, looks to be more powerful than ever in season 5, andset photoshave suggested that he could have concentration camp-like prisons built for anti-Supe humans. Ryan, however, also seems poised to play a crucial role in season 5. Season 4 saw Crovetti’sThe Boyscharacterbecome a key figure as Butcher’s (Karl Urban) fight against Homelander intensifies, and he tries to win the young Supe over to his side. When Ryan realizes that he’s being manipulated, though, he kills Grace(Laila Robins), setting him up to become a season 5 villain as well.

The Boysseason 5 doesn’t yet have an official release date, but it will likely premiere on Prime Video at some point in 2026.
What Else Has Been Revealed In The Boys Season 5 Set Photos
Butcher & Hughie Will Have Bloody Storylines
Separate from the leaked set photos linked above, several other members ofThe Boyscast have shared photos on social media since the start of filming in November. The first behind-the-scenes photos arrived in early December, withKripke sharing a post on Xshowing him posing with Starr, Chace Crawford, and Nathan Mitchell in what looked to be a room in the Vought building. Though the three actors were in their costumes, the image doesn’t provide any story clues.

Ryan
More interestingly,Urban shared a post on Instagrama day later, showing him in character as Butcher with blood spattered all over his faceas he held up five fingers forThe Boysseason 5. Though the context of the blood on his face isn’t clear, it isn’t an uncommon sight in the series, and it suggests there is plenty of violence to come. Urban then shared another post in February showing Butcher behind the wheel of a car.
Quaid also shared a behind-the-scenes picturein February, and this one continues a worrying trend for Hughie. The image featuresQuaid sporting a wide grin, but his face is covered in blood. This, of course, has become something of a seasonal occurrence for Hughie. The last time he was covered in blood was when Victoria Newman (Claudia Doumit) was ripped in half in front of him inThe Boysseason 4 finale. Hughie will also, then, seemingly be an active participant in the violence that is to come, and he will potentially find himself a target of Homelander and Ryan.
Our Take On Homelander & Ryan In The Boys Season 5
Ryan Could End Up Being More Important Than Ever
WithThe Boysseason 5 set to bring the Prime Video show to an end, it seems likely that Homelander will be meeting his end in the upcoming episodes. The show has been building to anotherButcher versus Homelander fightfor some time now, and it will be a much more fair fight now that Urban’s character has his own unique powers. Though Butcher has sacrificed a great deal to accomplish his mission of killing Homelander,Ryan has the potential to be an interesting wrinkle here; Butcher clearly cares for the boy, even though he’s not actually his son.
There’s still a chance that Ryan will come around, perhaps turning against his father and helping to take him down.
Unlike Homelander, though,Ryan doesn’t seem like he’s too far gone just yet. There’s still a chance that Ryan will come around, perhaps turning against his father and helping to take him down. It remains to be seen how Homelander, Ryan, and Butcher’s dynamic will play out inThe Boysseason 5, but some major confrontations are evidently to come when the show returns.
