In a new premise too good for any fan of disaster movies to resist,Godzilla: Heistwill ask fans to consider a massive attack from the iconic Japanese kaiju in a whole new way. AsGodzillashatter casinos into rubble,it’s also an opportunity for a gang of criminals to pull off the crime of the century.
The new series has been announced by IDW straight from New York Comic Con, as part of the publisher’s larger plans with the character in the coming year. Fans have their first look at the cover art for the series, as well as the storytellers on board. Coming from the creative team of writer Van Jensen (Superman: Man of Tomorrow,The Flash) and artist Kelsey Ramsay (Dark Spaces: Good Deeds) and launching in February of 2025, it’s hard to believe fans ofGodzillawill need any more than the premsie to pique their interest. Take a look at the first revealed cover art, as well as the series' tagline below:

“It was the perfect crime. They just needed the perfect distraction.”
The first details shared during the panel steered clear of a specific plot snyopsis for now, but still offered an intensely compelling premise. If someone were able to devise a way of leading Godzilla from one city to another, raining down destruction once he arrived… it sure would make for a great opportunity to rob banks, casinos, or other typically well-guarded buildings and strongholds.

MonsterVerse Officially Upgrades Godzilla’s Most Brutal Attack Beyond His Old Limits
Godzilla’s atomic breath is one of the strongest attacks in the MonsterVerse but a helping hand from an equal makes it even more effective.
Writer Van Jensen offers Screen Rant a tease of the story to come, revealing this plot is actually a lot more personal than readers might assume from the outset:
“It’s a new lead character, someone who has a family connection to Godzilla and is angling to steal something big, something that can give him a ton of power—almost as much as Godzilla. But to pull it off he’ll have to work with a group of killers who might be even more dangerous than Godzilla.”
