The newly announcedStar Warsshow,Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, could feature a few familiar faces from the galaxy far, far away in addition to Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. WhenStar WarsannouncedTales of the Underworld, it opened the door to a litany of legacy characters who could appear in the show. Following in the steps ofTales of the JediandTales of the Empire,Underworldseems to be an anthology show that will jump around through theStar Warstimeline.

Cad Bane’s story - at least partially - seems to take place prior toStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, while Asajj Ventress' is set during the Dark Times. That’s a huge timeframe, and any number of characters from the prequel or original trilogies could end up interacting with either Bane or Ventress. I’m convinced that the following nine characters are going to have some part to play inTales of the Underworld, as any one of them would make for an amazing cameo appearance.

9Darth Maul

SinceTales of the Underworldseems to be something of an origin story for Cad Bane, a few notable figures from his early days as a bounty hunter could easily pop up. So far, the earliest storyStar Warshas told about Cad Bane put him in the employ of Darth Maul in theStar Wars: Darth Maul (2017)comic run.Darth Maul’s professional relationship with Cad Bane meansTales of the Underworldcould either animate their first job together.

Maul also survived long into the Dark Times, however. AsThe Clone WarsandSolo: A Star Wars Storyhave already established, Maul took control of several criminal syndicates like the Shadow Collective and Crimson Dawn during the reign of the Empire.Tales of the Underworldcould show Maul hiring Cad Bane for a new job while he was controlling Crimson Dawn. Maul already knows of Bane’s professional skills firsthand, and his crime empire would provide him with more than enough credits to be able to afford the bounty hunter.

8Aurra Sing

Tales of the Underworld’s place in the timeline of Cad Bane’s story could also open the door to another of his earliest professional relationships. Cad Bane worked with Aurra Sing, one of thegreatest bounty hunters inStar Wars, several times early in his career. Both of them worked for Maul prior toStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, and they would team up again inStar Wars: The Clone Wars.Tales of the Underworldcould continue that trend and establish that Cad Bane and Aurra Sing had an even lengthier partnership than we thought.

7Jango Fett

IfTales of the Underworlddoes tell the complete origin story of Cad Bane, then Jango Fett could easily make an appearance. Jango Fett was Cad Bane’s mentor in bounty hunting for some indeterminate amount of time, butStar Warshasn’t revealed many details about their relationship.Jango and Bane’s early partnership seems like an underutilized story ripe forTales of the Underworldto flesh out.Tales of the Underworldcould even dedicate one of Bane’s three episodes to Jango and explore the effect the seasoned Mandalorian had on the young Duros, and why they stopped working together.

6Boba Fett

Tales Of The Underworld Could Finally Show Bane’s Fateful Duel With Boba Fett

In the same vein,Tales of the Underworldcould also flesh out Cad Bane’s relationship with Jango’s son, Boba Fett.Just as Jango was his mentor, Cad Bane became one of Boba Fett’s mentors, andTales of the Underworldcould complete Bane’s origin story by showing him go from student to master. It could even go back and recanonize Bane and Boba’sscrapped arc fromThe Clone Wars, which resulted in the dent in Boba’s Beskar helmet. Since Matt Michnovetz, writer ofThe Clone Warsseason 6, is the main creator ofTales of the Underworld, it doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Cad Bane and Boba Fett’s shootout has already been recanonized due to the metal plate shown on Bane’s head inStar Wars: The Bad Batch.

Boba Fett could still appear inTales of the Underworldeven if he doesn’t show up in Cad Bane’s story. The poster forTales of the Underworldshowcases Latts Razzi, a bounty hunter that worked with Boba Fett and Asajj Ventress inThe Clone Warsseason 4. Thanks to Razzi, there’s a direct connection between Ventress and Boba Fett, and the young bounty hunter may be out for revenge against the former Sith Acolyte. Their only job together - so far - did end with Ventress betraying Boba, after all, and the younger Fett has never learned to forgive and forget.

5Bossk

Another character from theStar Warsmovieswho could appear in either Cad Bane or Asajj Ventress' stories inTales of the Underworldis the Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk. Bossk was part of Cad Bane’s squad during his duel with Boba Fett, and he was also part of Boba Fett’s crew during their brief collaboration with Asajj Ventress.Either of the two possibilities for Boba to appear inTales of the Underworldwould also give Bossk an opportunity to make an appearance. Plus, the fact that Bossk first appeared in the original trilogy makes it seem like he’s an even more attractive Easter egg.

Holy Crap, Asajj Ventress Taking On An Inquisitor Is A Star Wars Match-Up I’ve Only Dreamed Of

Star Wars just shocked us by dropping an announcement for a brand-new TV show, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, confirming a major return.

Bossk is actually just one of many characters who could appear inTales of the Underworldbecause of his history with both Bane and Ventress. In the unfinished arc fromThe Clone Wars, Bane and Bossk were also working with notable bounty hunters Embo and C-21 Highsinger. In fact, C-21 Highsinger was also on the poster forTales of the Underworld, and he also worked with Latts Razzi and Bossk when they encountered Ventress. I’m not a betting man, but I feel likeTales of the Underworldis gearing up to feature this particular crew of bounty hunters rather heavily.

4Quinlan Vos

Most of the legacy characters who could appear in Asajj Ventress' episodes ofTales of the Underworldhinge around one observation: thatVentress may be working for the Hidden Path, the network dedicated to sheltering Force-sensitives from the Empire. If that proves to be the case, thenone of the more obvious people who could appear inTales of the Underworldis Quinlan Vos, a known member of the Path and Ventress' secretive lover. The novelStar Wars: Dark Discipleestablished Ventress and Vos' relationship, andTales of the Underworldcould easily rekindle their feelings for one another.

3Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka’s History With Ventress May Make Her An Unlikely Ally In The Dark Times

Ventress' potential work with the Hidden Path could also reunite her with another unlikely ally: Ahsoka Tano. Ventress and Ahsoka became uneasy partners inThe Clone Warsseason 5, just before Ahsoka left the Jedi Order.Depending upon when exactlyTales of the Underworldtakes place, Ventress may reach out to Ahsoka for help in saving the young Jedi Padawan she was seen escorting in the trailer. Aside from Vos, Ahsoka is one of the few Jedi Ventress had a good relationship with, which may be enough to inspire a reunion.

2Omega & Members of Clone Force 99

Ventress Has A Working Relationship With Clone Force 99 & May Travel To Pabu

That Padawan shown in the trailer forTales of the Underworldcould also give Ventress a chance to link up with other unlikely allies: Omega and Clone Force 99. After appearing inThe Bad Batch, Ventress and Clone Force 99 had a fairly good working relationship with one another.Their island, Pabu, is also likely one of the only safe places Ventress knows of during the Dark Times, and she may attempt to bring her newfound companion to live under the Bad Batch’s care. If she does, we could easily see Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, or Echo crop up inTales of the Underworld.

1Haja Estree

Haja Estree Is One Of The Most Prominent Members Of The Hidden Path & May Be Working With Ventress

Perhaps the least likely - but still plausible - cameo forTales of the Underworldis Haja Estree fromObi-Wan Kenobi. Though Haja started out as a criminal, he went through a redemption inObi-Wan Kenobi, and he may have even continued working with the Hidden Path after delivering Leia Organa to Alderaan. If he did,Haja would be one of the more notable members of the Path for Ventress to interact with inTales of the Underworld. That, coupled with the fact that Kumail Nanjiani would be a fun cameo, could mean Haja Estree will appear inStar Wars: Tales of the Underworld.
