My Hero Academiatypically does a phenomenal job developing its characters and delving into their stories, powers, and experiences. However, some of them deserve far more screen time than they received. Some characters only appeared briefly in films, while others were in the show, but could have benefited from much more time in the spotlight.

A handful of heroes and villains with some of the coolest powers in the series, unfortunately, were not able to use them as often as fans hoped. Deku, Bakugo, Shigaraki, and All Might are very interesting and dynamic characters, but sometimes their prevalence in the story makes it more difficult for other characters to shine. Now that the manga has concluded, it is easier to pinpointwhich characters throughoutMy Hero Academiashould have received much more attention.

My Hero Academia Villains Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

8Geten

Geten’s Ice Powers Are Very Impressive, Making Him One of the Most Dangerous Villains

Geten, also called Iceman, is one of the series' most compelling villains with a unique ice-wielding Quirk. This villain’s Ice Ply Quirk allowed him to control ice and attack with it during the Paranormal Liberation War. A few other characterslike Todoroki alsohave ice powers, but Geten’s are one of a kind.Geten is much more powerful than the average ice wielder, giving him a lot more potential to pull off dangerous attacks.

As one of the series' strongest villains, Geten deserved more time to reveal what he was truly capable of, but unfortunately only received limited scenes during the Meta Liberation Army arc.His battle with Dabi was cutthroatand proved Geten’s skills are equal to Dabi’s, who is one of the most formidable villains in the entire franchise. He was captured far too quickly by Cementoss though, taking him out of the Paranormal Liberation War before he could display the full range of abilities his Ice Ply Quirk offers him.

The Big Three

7Godzillo

Godzillo Only Received a Brief Cameo in a Movie, Hinting at Toho’s Ownership of the Godzilla Franchise

Godzillo only appeared in oneMy Hero Academiamovie,My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, but he made an incredible impression on fans in just that short time. His appearance is exactly like that of Godzilla, intriguing fans of that film franchise. Toho is the name of his Quirk, giving him similar skills to the popular famous lizard hero, Godzilla, including tall stature and strength.Toho is also the name of the company that ownsMy Hero AcademiaandGodzilla, interestingly enough.

The Weirdest My Hero Academia Villains Inspired By Other Media

My Hero Academia’s one-off villains tend to reference other works, like Star Wars, Godzilla, Dragon Ball, and even Thomas the Tank Engine.

He really only appeared in the film at the I-Island expo, showing off the gigantic size he can grow to by using his powers. Viewers were disappointed to see thatthis brief cameo was Godzillo’s only appearance in the movie or franchiseat all though, as he never got to fight in later battles. His split-second appearance was likely just included since Toho owns the rights to both franchises, but it would have been incredible to see this Godzilla-like character fighting in the story.

6Ochaco Uraraka

Ochaco Is Strong and Caring, and Deserved More Character Development Apart From Her Classmates

Ochaco Uraraka is one of the main classmates in Class 1-A and a close friend of the main character, Izuku Midoriya. Despite this fact, she should have received more screen time and arcs that delve into who she is as a person rather than just her relationships with those around her. Her appearances in the storyoften include her encouraging Deku and her classmates or fighting alongside othersin bigger battles, but very few storylines focus primarily on Ochaco.

One of the main Ochaco storylines was when she fought to save Toga from villainy andToga unfortunately died saving Ochaco’s life. This was a very powerful and popular plot that revealedOchaco’s care for others, bravery, deeper feelings, and motivation for becoming a hero.Ochaco’s Quirk, Zero Gravity, also has a number of effective and creative uses. With more character development and attention, Ochaco could have become one of the series' best heroes.

Momo Yaoyorozu looks thoughtful at the horizon. Behind her, a picture of the city can be seen.

5Nejire Hado

Nejire Receives Less Attention Than Mirio and Tamaki, Her Big Three Comrades, Although She Is as Important

The Big Threemake up U.A. High’s most admired and respectable students who have the most accomplishments under their belt. This group consists of Mirio Togata, Tamaki Amajiki, and Neijire Hado. Mirio receives perhaps the most attention both in the story and from the fanbase, since he is U.A.’s #1 hero. Mirio played a major role in the Shie Hassakai arc, helping Sir Nighteye and U.A. save Eri from Overhaul. Tamaki also had a substantial role in the conflict, fighting villains on his own and experiencing his internship with Fat Gum.

My Hero Academia: 10 Things About The Big Three That Make No Sense

Like most shonen anime, My Hero Academia is full of strange stuff, but these 10 inconsistencies regarding the Big Three are particularly strange.

Of the trio, Neijire sadly received the least screen time. The Big Three would not be the same without Neijire’s cheerfulness, kindness, and, of course, her Wave Motion Quirk, which allows her to blast waves of energy at enemies. She is equally important to the group, and even fought Dabi during the Paranormal Liberation War arc. Much attention was given to Mirio’s time at U.A. in particular, and his close friendship with Tamaki, but it would have beenamazing to see Neijire receive the same developmentand screen time too.

4Sir Nighteye

Sir Nighteye’s storyline inMy Hero Academiawas all too brief, cut short soon after his introduction. Sir Nighteye, also known as Mirai Sasaki, wasa pivotal player in the battles against Overhauland had crucial interactions with Deku that advanced Deku’s character development in the story. Mirai was very brave and determined not to let evil prevail, using his Foresight Quirk to effectively predict the futures of other people and plan accordingly based on that information.

Tragically, Overhaul ended Sir Nighteye’s life, sohe only appeared in this one season ofMy Hero Academia.Mirai’s Quirk was very valuable and special and could have been effective in future battles, but he unfortunately never had the opportunity to utilize it past the Shie Hassakai arc. Other storylines involving his character, likeSir Nighteye’s fractured relationship with All Might, also could have been explored had he survived longer. It is a true shame that Sir Nighteye passed away so soon, because he had incredible potential and was one of the series' most compelling heroes.

3Giulio Gandini

Giulio Is Persistent, Powerful, and a Fan-Favorite, so He Should Have Been Included in the Show Too

The star of theMy Hero Academia: You’re Nextfilmwas, without a doubt, Giulio Gandini.Giulio was tasked with watching over AnnaScervino, a woman with an uncontrollable and potentially dangerous Quirk called Overmodification that amplifies the Quirks of others. When she was kidnapped by Dark Might, Giulio stopped at nothing to get her back, risking his own life to save the woman he loved with all his heart.Giulio’s Quirk is Neutralization, allowing him to stop the negative effects of Anna’s Quirk.

“Please Pay Attention”: My Hero Academia’s Creator Confirms You’re Next Is Actually More Important Than Fans Would Think

The pivotal romance plot in the recently released My Hero Academia: You’re Next movie connects to the series' greatest overarching theme.

In the fights against Dark Might, Giulio showed incredible persistence and sheer physical power, two qualities that made him a nearly unstoppable fighter. Giulio could have been a valuable asset in otherMy Hero Academiabattles, and he worked very well with Deku and his U.A. comrades, once they got past their initial disagreement. Giulio definitely would have fit into the rest of the series well andshould have appeared in more than just the one film.

2Momo Yaoyorozu

Momo’s Creation Quirk Is the Most Limitless, Giving Her Endless Possibilities of Items She Can Create

Momo’s Quirk, Creation, may very well bethe strongest, most limitless Quirk inMy Hero Academia.By harnessing her Quirk, Momo can create anything she chooses as long as it is non-living, which obviously, opens up endless possibilities for her. She has created everything from cannons to masks, and dolls to guns. There is pretty much nothing she cannot design out of thin air, making her one of the best fighters in Class 1-A, since all she needs is her imagination to take down an enemy.

Now That My Hero Academia Is Over, It’s Clear One Character Deserved Way More Screen Time

Momo Yaoyorozu had the potential to become one of the strongest and most versatile students in My Hero Academia.

Despite her sheer power, Yaoyorozu is underrated and underutilized in the story. She indeed has her moments of creating effective fighting tools in battles with her teammates, but she could have been an absolute powerhouse in battles against the toughest villains of the series.More time definitely should have been dedicated to showing off Momo’s Quirkin all its incredible glory.

1Fumikage Tokoyami

Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow Quirk Is One of the Most Powerful in Class 1-A and Deserved More Attention

FumikageTokoyami is one of Class 1-A’s best students, who unfortunately does not always receive the respect and attention he should. Dark Shadow, his Quirk, allows him towield a sentient shadow-like being that is very strongand terrifying. His Quirk is difficult to control though, and often becomes unruly and dangerous, such as during the Forest Training Camp arc when he lost command of the Quirk.

Despite his impressive power,Tokoyami is one of the lesser used heroes in Class 1-A, sadly often fading into the background as the main characters fight. With practice and mastery of his Quirk, he could become one of the greatest heroes of all time. Watching Tokoyami learn to properly wield his Quirk and unlock its full potential could be very intriguing, and he definitely deserved more time inMy Hero Academiato accomplish that task.
