The Big Bang Theoryshines because of the chemistry of its ensemble cast, but they’re also talented actors on their own. After playing their iconicBig Bang Theorycharactersfor over a decade, it’s hard to imagine the actors as anyone else. However, some of them, such as including Johnny Galecki and Mayim Bialik were already childhood sitcom stars beforeThe Big Bang Theory. Other cast members have used theirBig Bang Theorycachet to produce and star in new series since the Chuck Lorre sitcom ended.
WhileThe Big Bang Theoryuniverse continues to grow with new spin-offs likeGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the original cast will always have a special place in fans’ hearts. Revisiting their roles in other TV series makes me appreciate the strength of their performances inThe Big Bang Theory, as it can be easy to forget they are not their beloved characters. It’s interesting to consider how their previous roles led them toThe Big Bang Theory, as well as what they chose to do after 12 seasons on CBS’s hit show.

Every The Big Bang Theory Actor Originally From Roseanne
In addition to starring Johnny Galecki as Leonard, The Big Bang Theory made use of several other actors who had previously appeared on Roseanne.
David’s quiet nature contrasted sharply with the brash Conner family. InThe Big Bang Theory, Leonard has a similarly timid yet lovable personality. Like David, Leonard struggles with confidence—especially in romance—but ultimately builds a strong relationship with Penny.

68 Simple Rules (2002-2005)
Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy
BeforeThe Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco played Bridget Hennessy in8 Simple Rules, a sitcom about middle-class parents doing their best to raise their three teenagers. Bridget was very similar to Penny - charismatic blondes initially portrayed as stereotypical hot girls, but who developed depth over time.Bridget was the popular, bubbly, and somewhat ditzy oldest daughter, often prioritizing boys or clothes over school. Like Penny, Bridget had superficial tendencies but also a good heart and deep love for her family.
8 Simple Rules
8 Simple Rules is a sitcom that follows the Hennessy family. John Ritter plays the overprotective father who navigates the challenges of raising teenage daughters. The series blends humor with heartfelt moments, showcasing the family’s attempts to adhere to his “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.”
John Ritter’s passing profoundly changed8 Simple Rules, though the series continued with new cast members, including David Spade. Interestingly, Penny’s mother inThe Big Bang Theory, Susan, was played by Katey Sagal—the same actress who portrayed Bridget’s mother, Cate, in8 Simple Rules.
