Additionally,Alex already has a relationship with Captain Glenn Shephard, meaning he could integrate into the crew more easily.
While some of the other cast members onBelow Deck Sailing Yachtleaned into the drama, Alex’s reserved personality and steady work ethic helped balance everybody out. He developed friendly relationships with team members and avoided the kind of personal entanglements that have caused friction among others on the show. Because of his easygoing attitude, he’s a good choice to replace the problematic Gary.

Known for his professionalism, he also faced a bit of drama due to his relationship with Ciara Duggan. The couple, who had worked together for years, were tested when fellow crew member Georgia Grobler expressed feelings for Paget. Despite his loyalty to Ciara, Paget’s playful interactions with Georgia were inappropriate and distracted him from his duties.
Paget said he wouldn’t return to Below Deck Sailing Yacht, but Captain Glenn might be able to convince him if there’s no one else.
Paget might also have a dramatic streak and penchant for flirtation, but it’s nothing in comparison to Gary’s constant troublemaking. He wouldn’t get himself into a situation like the one with Ciara and Georgia again. Given his work ethic and expertise, he’s the right choice to replace Gary onBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 6.
4Sydney Zaruba
Sydney Zaruba, a deckhand onBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 2, could be an interesting replacement for Gary, given her past with the troubled First Mate. Sydney is best known for her love triangle with Gary and fellow crew member Alli Dore, which stirred much of the season’s tension. She had a one-night stand with Gary early in the season, only for him to shift his attention to Alli. Understandably, Sydney was not pleased about this development.

However, she could be considered for Gary’s replacement should she choose to return to the franchise.

Kelsie Goglia flew under the radar, but stood out as a calming presence aboard the Parsifal III onBelow Deck Sailing Yacht. Known for her laid-back attitude, sharp wit, and unproblematic presence, Kelsie brought a much-needed balance to the show. Her hilarious one-liners and genuine helpfulness stood out, such as when she offered advice to stew Gabriela Barragan during a difficult period of crew conflicts involving the troublesome Ashley.
It’s unclear how much pull Daisy has, but if she was asked who should replace Gary, she might enjoy having Kelsie back.
Kelsie and Daisy were super close, so the Chief Stew would likely be pleased to welcome her back toBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 6. Daisy is one of the primary cast members, so she’d probably put in a good word for Kelsie should she be considered for casting. She might be one of the least problematicBelow Deckcast members ever. Even off-camera, she maintained friendships with crew members like Ashley and Chef Marcos Spaziani.

There may only be two additional deckhands aboard the Parsifal III onBelow Deck Sailing Yacht, but Keith Allen has proven himself during season 5 to be a competent, calm, and relatively drama-free stint as a deckhand on the show. Gary’s antics make him an inconsistent figure, especially with his drunken exploits, and Emma was so bad at her job Captain Glenn had to fire her. However,Keith remains focused on his job. He has a potential connection with Daisy, but he refuses to act unprofessionally with Danni Warren after she came on to him.
Keith doesn’t have as much experience as Gary, but he could learn quickly and become a benevolent leader onboard. In the case of Gary’s firing, Captain Glenn could take him under his wing between seasons to make sure he’s ready for the responsibilities of First Mate. Given his performance so far, Keith could be one of the better choices.

Chase Lemacks returned toBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5, and he could come for Gary’s job if he exceeds expectations and Gary continues to be a drunken mess. After Emma was fired, Chase was brought back in as a deckhand, but he claimed to be a changed man. He plans to approach his work differently this season by flying under Gary’s radar but doing whatever he wants behind his back.
Despite his efforts to avoid conflict,Chase is set to become a dramatic figure in upcoming episodes. Diana, who is more shy, is interested in Chase. However, Danni, who seeks a romantic connection with any man she lays eyes on, is more extroverted and overtly flirting with Chase. Daisy and Gary were less thrilled about his return, but even Gary acknowledged he was a good worker. Whatever shenanigans he gets himself involved in will surely pale in comparison to Gary’s track record onBelow Deck Sailing Yacht.
