From the time I was a little girl, I’ve had a fascination with Superman.Smallvilleis one of my favorite shows of all time. I grew up with George Newbern’s Superman onJustice League. However, when I think of Superman, neither of those iterations comes to mind first. Rather, I see Christopher Reeve’s smiling face. I first discovered Superman through a VHS tape ofSuperman IIthat a neighbor gifted my parents, and though I was only a toddler, I was hooked. Needless to say,Super/man: The Christopher Reeve Storywas at the top of my must-watch list for 2024.
Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, the documentary chronicles Reeve’s rise to fame, his personal life, and the tragic accident that left him paralyzed in 1995.Super/manfeatures interviews with Reeve’s children, fellow actors, and friends interspersed with old footage of Reeve and recordings from his autobiography,Still Me.
