There are plenty of theories aboutGrand Theft Auto 6, but many of them seem like predictable guesses. For example, some claim that the game will sell the online mode and the single-player separately, which seems pretty easy to assume. However, some bold claims push the envelope while still managing to sound relatively plausible. Those predictions are worth believing in and hoping for, are some that I hope to see one of.

For those of us who are willing togetGTA 6even if it costs $100, these predictions aren’t deal-breakers. In fact,it would be nice if Rockstar subverted expectationsand gave players a surprise in the next release. As long as Rockstar doesn’t go too far off base, the company can do a lot that players aren’t expecting.

10Killing A Protagonist From GTA 5

Rockstar Can Subvert Our Expectations

One of the best ways to really blow players away would be to have a protagonist fromGTA 5appear inGrand Theft Auto 6and then kill them off. I don’t mean unceremoniously or as a middle finger to players, but more in an unexpected way that makes a lot of sense. It seems likely that some familiar faces will reappear in the game, but considering how iconic they are,no oneexpects Rockstar to kill off aGTA 5characterthat makes a cameo.

GTA 6’s Story Won’t Be Able To Ignore Michael, Franklin, & Trevor

For once it might behoove Grand Theft Auto 6 to bring in protagonists from a previous entry, as those from GTA 5 might be missed too much.

I think if anyone was to show up and die,it would be Michael De Santa. Thevoice actor has been teasing his returnand has been working with Rockstar on other projects likeRed Dead Redemption 2. He’s likely got friends in the studio who would want to work with him again on this big project. There would be no better way to show players they have no clue what’s coming than to kill off a beloved character.

GTA 6 Could Feature Cameos From Grand Theft Auto Characters Like Michael

9Moral Choices Impact The Map

A Static Map Is Too Expected

Rockstar has spent a lot of time and money developingGrand Theft Auto 6, and it’s hard to imagine the studio wouldn’t use that time to do something new and different. Some RPGs have maps that change with time, often as a result of moral choices.Grand Theft Auto 6adding ina choice where the player can absolutely wreck or change a part of the map would be very unexpected. It’s the kind of thing that’s mainly reserved for RPGs but makes games very immersive.

I don’t think a part of the main city should change at all. That would be an easy way to create bugs and glitches and would take extra time for QA. Instead, the woods or an area outside the city could change because the player chose to set off an explosion. The olderGrand Theft Autogames used to have broken bridges to keep players from leaving a part of the map, soRockstar is no stranger to making major map changes in the course of gameplay.

8Player-Driven Global Events In Online Mode

Missions Should Expand To Regular Gameplay

Grand Theft Auto Onlinehas its missions and its free mode, which mostly feel like very separate elements. While some parts go together, nothing that feels like it changes part of the game.Grand Theft Auto 6has the chance toadd far more player agency by letting the top players make major decisions. If top players make too many bank heists or do too much damage, maybe the cops could be more active for a while.

Alternatively, if players tend to cause too much trouble for NPCs, have citizens take revenge on everyone. This doesn’t have to be forever, but it could last for a few hours.Letting players affect the world is a method of storytellingthat, balanced correctly, can make the players feel like they’re having a real effect on gameplay without fundamentally changing things.Helldivers 2does this concept particularly well, and Rockstar could benefit from borrowing it.

7NPC Characters Develop Long-Term Relationships

Go The Extra Mile With The NPCs

Many players are waiting to see how reactive the NPCs will be inGrand Theft Auto 6.With all the talk about AI and rumors thatGTA 6is the most expensive game ever made, it’s likely that the AI in the game also improved. NPCs are made to disappear once the player is done with them, butNPCs that act like they’re truly alivemight be coming inGTA 6.

GTA 6could give limited life to the NPCs that have them do more than walk around doing random things. If anNPC activates a temporary AI that gives them a schedule and things to dothat are outside player interactions, then they’ll feel more real. Also, removing that task once they despawn will keep it from taking up too much memory.

6Unexpected Real People Making Cameos

Snoop Dogg Or T-Pain Should Appear

Some celebrities are known for playing video games or are active in the community.Snoop Dogg and T-Pain are two famous figures who love video games, and it would be great to see theminGrand Theft Auto 6. TheGrand Theft Autoseries has fantastic radio stations, so we know that these people exist in that universe.GTA 6’ssoundtrack may be off to a bad start, but this is a good way to make players feel like the music is more than just programmed in.

Grand Theft Auto Characters That Could Have Cameos In GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 could make some call-backs to the series' past once it comes out. Thankfully, there are plenty of characters perfect for a return.

Snoop Dogg and T-Pain aren’t the only good options for celebrities who could make a cameo, andothers like Henry Cavill who are interested in games could be equally memorable. It’s difficult and time-consuming to act on any project, so it would cost money, but it would be worth a fee to see someone famous inGrand Theft Auto 6. It could also bring in money from fans of stars who aren’t typically interested in video games.

5Dynamic World Economy In Online Mode

It Sounds Silly, But It’d Make You Play More

A dynamic world economy would be bold, but it would make a lot of sense inGrand Theft Auto 6. Players make businesses and are in charge of companies inGTA Online, but you don’t see them in the stock market or anything like that. If the nextonline mode added in player-made stocks and had players affect themthrough their actions, it could bring in a whole new aspect and way of making money.

A dynamic world economy would make a lot of sense, but it would be hard to police since some players would take advantage of it. However, just like in the real world, this is a part of stock market spending. It’s an interesting idea, but I don’t think it’s too crazy for Rockstar to try.I would be happy if stocks were influenced by players, because that would be player agency in a way onlyEve Onlinehas.

4VR Compatibility On A Roadmap

Not At Release, But Eventually In-Game

Virtual reality has been in the gaming industry for some time now, and some games have made ways for players to experience games this way.Grand Theft Auto 6likely won’t have VR on release, butRockstar should have VR on the roadmap. This is something that could be added in a future update as DLC, since it could be a good way to make money.

This kind of thing is normally hard to do because it’s more than a first-person mode.VR requires players to be able to affect and touch the worldaround them through controls made for the platform. This isn’t for a mainline audience, but it could help others take the concept and make mods and other things with it. It’d be a great way for Rockstar to add more to sell to players without having to change parts of the game.

3Cheaper Price For Online Mode If Bundled

This Would Be A Great Way To Sell The Single-Player

Youshouldn’t worry aboutGrand Theft Auto 6costing $100, but you should keep in mind that Rockstar wants to make a lot of money. There’s likely a significant amount of money that went intoGTA 6that Rockstar needs to get back as quickly as possible so the company can make a profit. One easy way to do this is tosplitGTA 6andGTA Onlineas two separate purchases.

GTA 6 Will Be “First Game Where Online Is Sold Separately At Launch,” Claims Leaker

A new leak claims that the next installment of GTA Online will break the precedent established by other Rockstar games when GTA 6 launches this year.

If this is true, those of us who arebuying the single-player version should get a discount on the multiplayer version. A lot of players are only interested in the online version, but if there was a deal or bundle to persuade players to buy the single-player version, Rockstar could guarantee a lot of money for the company easily.

2The Metaverse Plays A Bigger Role Than We Expected

We Think It’s Coming, But Fortnite Quality

There have been rumors thatRockstar will make a metaversesimilar toFortniteandRobloxforGrand Theft Auto 6. While it would be simple for the company to let players make levels and feature them in a level browser, it’d be much better for the metaverse to be an overarching experience. Instead of having everyone go directly to the player levels, having a main hub before they get to player levelswould be a way for players to feel immersed before going anywhere.

Rockstar needs to have full control over its metaverse if it is coming so that the company can make sure it stands out in a unique way. It would make sense for Rockstar to make sure this isan integrated world that makes players feel like they’re doing more than playing a game.

1A Third Playable Character Halfway Through The Story

Bring Jimmy From Bully or Someone Unexpected

Currently, everyone knows that the main protagonist forGrand Theft Auto 6will be Lucia and possibly Jason. Rockstar could easily subvert expectations by keeping those two front and center for a chunk of the story before introducing a third playable character. Everyone is expecting two characters, butif a third character pops in, it could improve the whole playthrough.

Personally, I’d like to see Jimmy Hopkins fromBullyjust to tie the games together. That likely won’t happen, butGrand Theft Auto 6will likely blow players away in ways that aren’t expected. Bold predictions seem out of nowhere, but that’s how developers surprise their audiences, and Rockstar is the kind of company to make bold changes.
